Swan Rangers Ski/Snowshoe Peterson Creek!

Looking over Ferndale to Flathead Lake! (Keith Hammer photos)

Eleven Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed the Peterson Creek Road on a pleasant Saturday, January 28, 2017!

Though a bit sticky on the way up, the snow proved an excellent glide down for the skiers!

In winter, its a quarter-mile ski from the county Bear Creek Road to the gate on the Peterson Creek Road, then 1.2 miles to the boulder/berm closure shown here, where the old road narrows for nearly another mile before the actual trail starts and becomes a bit testy for skiing. (See this map).

Most of the fabulous eleven!

Translation of tracks in snow: Some small critter got scooped up by a winged creature!

Birch trees, perhaps with help from birds, have been releasing their seed the past couple of weeks!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome!
