While the Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will get a report out each week with items of interest to folks trying to get outside for some "social distancing" and spirit-calming fresh air.

On a couple days and in various combinations, Keith, Pam, Mary, Norma, and Pat hiked and skied the Peters Ridge Road. The snow was pretty good above the gate but . . .

Debra Schweitzer took this photo of the Flathead River, Old Red Bridge and Columbia Mountain during her walk near Columbia Falls.
Pam Willison saw elk near the highway south of Columbia Falls, apparently finding green shoots in the fields.
Pam also saw a great horned owl on its nest in an undisclosed location!
Skip Via and Mary saw hooded mergansers during their walk along the Swan River upstream from Bigfork!
Keith Hammer saw and later smelled cottonwood buds along Peters Ridge Road. The Rangers are obviously enjoying watching Spring unfold!
