Swan Rangers Ski Peters-Krause Loop!

The arctic front blew in a little earlier than forecast! (Keith Hammer photos except one)

Eight Swan Rangers skied up the Peters Ridge Road, then down the old Krause Basin Road to Foothill Road on a blizzardy Saturday, February 23, 2019!

Three Swan Rangers opted for the Foothills Ski Area, where it also blew and snowed!

This map will show you Peters Ridge Road 5388, but not how to loop back to Foothill Road!

Peters Ridge Road beyond the junction and gate was a blank slate . . .

. . . but the Rangers were determined and had their ducks in a row!

The snowfall was even peaceful at times.

But there's nothing like a blizzard to put a smile on your face!

Looking down into Krause Basin from Peters Ridge, it appears there is some elevation to be lost . . .

. . . which is exactly what the old Krause Basin "road" does!

There was plenty of snow and fun to be had at the groomed ski area as well! (Pat Jaquith photo)

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
