Swan Rangers Seek Solstice in Krause Basin!

Eight Swan Rangers went seeking Winter Solstice in Krause Basin and found it on Saturday, December 21, 2019!

Though warm and rainy at lower elevations, there is snow a bit higher in Krause Basin!

The Rangers found some snow and . . .

"The Knob" in Krause Basin has enough elevation to offer views of the Flathead Valley and Flathead Lake.

 

Speaking of elevation, this Ranger received an award during breakfast for hiking . . .

 

. . . over 100,000 feet in elevation in 2019!

 

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When recreating in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.
