Swan Rangers Hike Woods-Estes!

Calm and quiet Estes Lake. (Keith Hammer photos)

Six Swan Rangers hiked from Woods Bay to Estes Lake on a changing-weather Saturday, April 27, 2019!

It's that time of year to enjoy emerging wildflowers!

Just sittin' on the rock of the bay . . .

. . . watching the geese move quietly away-ay-ay.

The pessimist: Darn, is it raining?  The optimist: Wow, look at all those fish rising!

The rein orchids found near Estes Lake by the Rangers last August are again sprouting leaves at the base of last year's stalks!

When not distracted by grand views of Flathead Lake . . .

. . . the Rangers saw yellow bells/fritillary . . .

. . . glacier lilies . . .

. . . shooting stars . . .

. . . and prarie smoke!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

THESE BREAKFAST AND DEPARTURE TIMES JUST SHIFTED ONE HOUR EARLIER FOR SUMMER!

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
