Swan Rangers Hike Wolf via Bear!

A spiraling vortex of trees and sky! (Keith Hammer photos)

Nine Swan Rangers hiked into Wolf Creek via the old Bear Creek Road on a sunny, fresh-snow Saturday, November 10, 2018!

It was champagne powder on the way in and spring runoff on the way back out!

The Rangers gather at the candy-stripe, not-so-pearly gate on the old Bear Creek Road!

This closed road makes for great skiing with a little more snow!

Why do they call it Bear Creek?

Why not call it Bobcat Creek?

A glimpse of the cliffs and uplands across Wolf Creek Canyon!

And, finally, the beauty of Wolf Creek itself!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game hunting season is Oct. 18 - Nov. 25, so wear "hunter orange" and bright colors to be safe while hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
