Swan Rangers Hike Wolf Creek!

Looking up Wolf Creek Canyon from Windy Point. (Keith Hammer photos)

Nine Swan Rangers hiked to Lunch Rock in Wolf Creek Canyon on Saturday, September 14, 2019!

It was a great day to observe late-summer plant life going to seed!

Still fresh and smiling on the Birch Creek bridge, 1/8th mile from the cars!

While the Echo - Broken Leg Trail offers some nice views of the landscape . . .

. . . it also offers lots of interesting stuff close up, like this thick bed of ponderosa pine needles on a boulder!

Some of the asters have gone to seed . . .

. . . while others prefer to be late bloomers!

Snowberry flowers are changing to small fruit and then . . .

. . . the swollen berries worthy of their name!

Seeds of cow parsnip waiting to fall.

Deer Creek defies words of description!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
