Eight Swan Rangers hiked the Swan River Trail on a rainy Saturday, October 1, 2016!

The River Trail upstream from Bigfork is always a great 4-mile out and back option for getting wet from the top down instead of from the bottom up on a brushy trail!

Various strategies for shedding rain! (Keith Hammer photos here and below)

A trail that keeps your feet dry and allows you to travel in a herd!

Swan River, Swan Mountains and rain!

Fall colors and whitewater.

Oh, and the day started out with a fabulous sunrise on the drive to the cafe!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
