Swan Rangers Hike Smoke-Free!

Strawberry Lake shows off a bit more shoreline during a drought year! (Keith Hammer photos)

Fourteen Swan Rangers hiked to Strawberry Lake on a welcome smoke-free Saturday, August 22, 2015!

It was a welcome respite from dense wildfire smoke as a cold front flushed it out of the area for most of the day!

Fireweed begs attention along the trail, with Strawberry Mountain sharing the skyline!

Lifes a beach!

Wildfire haze returned slowly to the valley bottom while the high country remained fresh a bit longer!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
