Eleven Swan Rangers hiked the Phillips Trail on a breezy Saturday, November 18, 2017!

It was downright chilly at the overlook, where the Rangers turned around after a very short snack break!

There's a short way and a long way to the Crane Mountain Road from Highway 35 - and both are beautiful!

Swan Rangers tie up traffic at the trail intersection!

The trail was bare and dry down low . . .

. . . but a bit snowy further up!

Curly frost growing along the trail!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game rifle hunting season is Oct 21 - Nov 26, so it is wise to wear "hunter orange" and other bright colors while hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
