Swan Rangers Hike Peterson Snow!

The seasons they are a-changin'! (Keith Hammer photos)

Seven Swan Rangers hiked the Peterson Creek Trail on a fresh-snow Saturday, October 13, 2018!

Time to break out the long-johns!

The Rangers take a moment to acclimate after getting out of warm cars!

It's tracking season again! Grizzly, black bear, squirrel?

The larch better loose their needles soon!

Still life: snow on grass.

One Ranger called these "beargrass dreadlocks!"

The snow didn't quite make it to the valley floor, where Fall colors prevail!

Don't forget to look up once in a while!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game hunting season is Oct. 18 - Nov. 25, so wear "hunter orange" and bright colors to be safe while hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
