Swan Rangers Hike Peterson Creek Trail!

Thimbleberry turning green to yellow. (Keith Hammer photos)

Eight Swan Rangers hiked the Peterson Creek Trail on a somewhat dark and overcast morning of Saturday, October 11, 2014!

It was a great opportunity for flash photography, however, and a tour of changing Fall colors!

Follow the yellow leaf road, follow the yellow leaf road, follow the follow the follow the follow the . . .

A pause while crossing Patterson Creek.

A wild rose turning from green to yellow . . .

. . . as is this currant bush!

This Oregon grape is turning partly red . . .

. . . while this huckleberry bush is really going for it!

Then there's the old stick in the mud mushroom that just likes being brown!

Whoa Nellie! That bear got into too much horse feed! Oh, it IS horse poop!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
