Rangers pause at the overlook as 1.1" of rain burns off of Infinity Ridge! (Keith Hammer photos)

Thirteen Swan Rangers hiked the Peters Ridge Road on a still-drippy Saturday, June 25, 2016!

On July 1, the Forest Service will open the gate for the season and cars can continue on to the Peters Ridge trailhead.

Clearing weather over Flathead Lake?

Flowering canola fields near Bigfork!

Besides native flowers like these Lady slipper orchids . . .

. . . Peters Ridge Road is lined by "noxious" weeds like Oxeye Daisy . . .

. . . Ragweed . . .

. . . yellow Hawkweed . . .

. . . and Spotted knapweed, here just beginning to bloom.

The Rangers saw three Snowshoe hare, wearing their summer brown coats . . .

. . . and they saw their first Griz of the season!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
