Swan Rangers Hike Peters Ridge!

Looking down Browns Creek to the Flathead Valley! (Pam Willison photos)

Ten Swan Rangers hiked the Peters Ridge Trail to the Swan Crest on the first day of Autumn, 2018!

It was raw and windy up there - and the colors don't lie about what season it is!

A "group photo" is a good excuse for a short breather stop!

Looking south to Flathead Lake, through moutain ash!

Lunch in the lee of the Swan Crest . . .

. . . offers views into Glacier Park to the north!

The huckleberry bushes have turned a little bit red!

Don't trust a pitchy pine cone begging you to pick it up!

A moose was spotted on the drive back down Peters Ridge Road!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
