Swan Rangers Hike Mushroom Forest!

(Simensen/Gotschalk photo. All others by Keith Hammer)

Eight Swan Rangers hiked the Echo Creek headwaters in search of mushrooms on Saturday, October 15, 2016!

They weren't disappointed!

The Rangers check out  . . .

. . . one of the many springs that form Echo Creek!

They figured a damp forest that grows cedar trees like this one . . .

. . . and brings stumps back to life . . .

. . . should also have a few mushrooms! Enjoy the show:

Remember - don't eat anything you're not absolutely sure of!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game hunting season runs Oct 22 - Nov 27, so wear "hunter orange" when hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
