Swan Rangers Hike Krause Knob!

Twelve Swan Rangers hiked a loop over "The Knob" in Krause Basin on a blustery Saturday, April 11, 2015!

They returned to their cars at Foothill Road via a hike along the Strawberry Lake Road, which remains snowed in above the Echo Creek Spring!

A group "selfie" at the Y in the old road up "The Knob," amid jokes about nose hair!

Coyote scat with bones.

While snow still lays heavy further up Strawberry Lake Road, shrubs are leafing out . . .

. . . and flowering lower down, especially on south-facing slopes!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills. (Times will shift one hour earlier beginning May 2!)

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
