Swan Rangers Hike In-Thlam-Keh Lake

Ten Swan Rangers hiked past Martha and Birch Lakes to In-Thlam-Keh Lake in Jewel Basin Saturday, September 22.

Autumn Equinox was ushered in with the most vibrant of Fall colors, enhanced by a red sun filtering through thick wildfire smoke!

Martha Lake lies below Alpine Trail #7 and is fed by Birch Lake and Creek, framed here by the seed-heads of cow parsnip.

Kids practice their log- and rock-hopping while backpack camped with their folks at Birch Lake.

Smokey sunrise over Broken Leg Mountain, yet still a nice day for a hike!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
