Swan Rangers Hike in Krause Basin!

Krause Basin is home to big cedar and hemlock! (Keith Hammer photos)

Thirteen Swan Rangers hiked a short loop in the eastern portion of Krause Basin on a "100% chance of rain" Saturday, July 9, 2016!

Some were still too dry for comfort, so headed off on another loop elsewhere!

The evergreen trees are absolutely loaded with cones this year, like this grand fir!

This skinned-up tree looks like some critter likes to rub on it, polishing it to a shine!

Pine drops are flowering!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
