Swan Rangers Hike Hall Lake, Alp 7!

Twenty-one Swan Rangers hiked to Hall Lake on Saturday, August 8, with half continuing on to Alpine Trail #7 at the Hall-Quintonkon divide!

There were some tasty huckleberries here and there, but not any more!

. . . to be quickly outdone by this pika! Pika can perish at temperatures as mild as 78 degrees, making global warming a threat to these cold-temperature critters that already live at high elevations!

 

The bridge log is broken at Groom Creek, but the rope hand-hold remains.

 

The small camp site at Hall Lake offers a nice spot for lunch!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.
