Swan Rangers Hike Estes Lake!

Arnica along the way! (Keith Hammer photos)

Eleven Swan Rangers hiked to Estes Lake from Woods Bay on a pleasant Saturday, May 20, 2017!

The wildflowers and the mosquitos were out for all to enjoy!

There are several overlooks of Flathead Lake on the hike up from Woods Bay!

Flathead Lake with cumulous clouds building on the horizon!

The heavily glaciated "Mosquito Coast" of Estes Lake!

Prairie Smoke seems to like the open rock outcroppings!

Lupine with little jewels of water!

An earth-bound shooting star!

Stone seed.

Service berry blossoms.

Just when you get to thinking you are the slowest hiker on the trail, one of these comes along!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
