Swan Rangers Hike Crater Notch Trail!

Twelve Swan Rangers hiked the Crater Notch Trail on Saturday, March 21, turning around when reaching snow line at the "first lunch spot!"

While the lower DNRC stretch of the trail now looks more like a stump farm, this remains a unique trail that gets better the higher one goes!

The Crater Notch Trail gets one's heart pumping right off the bat!

DNRC's "sanitation harvest" looks a bit like clearcut logging above the first swtichback!

Other than the glimpse of a leprechaun behind this St. Patrick's day boulder . . .

. . . there was bearly any sign of wildlife!

The "first lunch spot" comes complete with seats and views!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
