Swan Rangers Hike Broken Leg!

Twenty-one Swan Rangers hiked the Echo - Broken Leg Trail on a wonderful Fall Saturday, September 19, 2015!

Besides the onset of beautiful fall colors, there were no ticks on this trail that is famous for them during Spring!

Yes indeed, a beautiful Fall hike with ponderosa pine here and there . . .

. . . especially on the south-facing slopes!

This western larch tree for some reason has bled red pitch rather than the usual amber!

Deer Creek and its moss-covered rocks above the trail . . .

. . . and devil's club turning yellow below the trail!

Fireweed seeds emerge from their long, slender pods as the pods twist open!

A view up Wolf Creek canyon from Breezy Point!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
