Swan Rangers Hike Bear to Wolf!

Lunch Rock provides nice views down Wolf Creek to the Flathead Valley! (Keith Hammer photos)

Eleven Swan Rangers hiked from Bear Creek to Wolf Creek on a hot Saturday, August 1, 2015!

They used the early morning shade of Broken Leg Mountain and an early return to make a very hot day an enjoyable hike!

Sorry, there is no map that shows this secret route from Bear Creek to Wolf Creek!

Rangers gather for a group photo on Lunch Rock before scattering for a snack in the shade!

Wolf Creek canyon is very rocky and makes for a lot of large rock in Wolf Creek . . .

. . . which is why the steeper sections appear dry, as here at the Echo - Broken Leg Trail . . .

. . . although enough water is flowing under those boulders to make an abundant appearance further downstream!

Whenever you are under a lot of pressure, just remember this sign where the Echo - Broken Leg Trail crosses Wolf Creek!

Some fireweed catches the sun as it rises over Broken Leg Mountain!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
