While the Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will get a report out each week with items of interest to folks trying to get outside for some "social distancing" and spirit-calming fresh air.
Debra Schweitzer's photo of the Middle Fork Flathead near West Glacier got top billing this week. She was on a trip to hike to Rocky Point on Lake McDonald . . .
. . . where she took this photo!
Joel Vignere hiked to Elk Spring, where he reported knee-deep snow at 5200'. He returned via Wolf Creek but threw us a curve ball with his photo of Stoner Creek behind Lakeside!
Pam Willison skied the Bigfork Community Nordic Center and took this photo of Noisy Creek while . . .
. . . Linda Anderson skied the Blactail Mountain Noridic Trails. North Shore Nordic just announced it is not permitted to groom these two ski areas until December 1, but has completed fall cleanup and welcomes donations to help offset cancellation of their annual fundraiser due to COVID.
Keith Hammer and Pam skied the lower section of the Bond Creek Trail . . .
. . . turning around at the Upper Bond Creek trailhead, even though the snow was invitiing them to ski further!
Pat Jaquith skied the Pig Farm area west of Kalispell and sent in this photo!
Keith Hammer skied the lower part of Krause Basin and came across slash piles set afire by DNRC moments earlier, while . . .
. . . this hairy woodpecker got its lunch from a dead tree nearby that luckily did not get dozed into a slash pile!
