Swan Rangers Ascend Switchback Trail!

Sun, sky and a smattering of Swan Rangers! (Keith Hammer photos except Mt. Aeneas view)

Nineteen Swan Rangers hiked the Switchback Trail up to Alpine Trail #7 on a sunny Saturday, June 6, 2015!

Two continued up from Malfunction Junction to the top of Mt. Aeneas!

The Rangers at Malfunction Junction, where Alpine Trail is intersected by several other trails and the "co-ax track" leading to the microwave tower.

The Switchback Trail offers great views of Flathead, Mud and Echo Lakes . . .

. . . and this view looking across Birch Creek and down the Swan Crest to the south. Can you find Martha Lake just left of center?

There's nothing like morning sun to light up a beargrass blossom . . .

. . . while the shady forest along the lower part of the trail shelters spotted coral-root!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
